If you've not seen it, get yourself on Netflix asap and binge-watch The Good Place. Honestly - you'll thank us for it once you've got through the first three seasons currently available on the streaming platform.

However, season three ended on a RIGHT old cliffhanger that was pretty heartbreaking actually, not to mention incredibly frustrating. But that's the beauty of television, isn't it?

Because we're incredibly thoughtful and kind-hearted citizens who would DEFINITELY get into The Good Place, we've collated everything there is to know so far about the show and it's upcoming fourth season. YOU'RE WELCOME.

When will The Good Place season 4 air in the UK?

The Good Place season 4 is confirmed to air in the US on NBC on Thursday 26th September, which means that it should be released on Netflix UK on Friday 27th September.

The fourth season of The Good Place was confirmed in December 2018, one month before the third season finished airing in the US. The show began filming in the second week of April, and Jameela Jamil, who stars as spoiled heiress with a heart of gold Tahani Al-Jamil on the show, shared posts on social media about being back on the set.

D'Arcy Carden, who plays Janet, also posted a hilarious video of co-star Kristen Bell, who plays main character Eleanor Shellstrop, in a rather strange devil outfit - could this be a spoiler for season four?

Has The Good Place been cancelled?

Technically no, it hasn't been cancelled - but show creator Michael Schur did confirm in a statement that it would be the final season of the show. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, 'After The Good Place was picked up for season two, the writing staff and I began to map out, as best we could, the trajectory of the show. Given the ideas we wanted to explore, and the pace at which we wanted to present those ideas, I began to feel like four season was the right lifespan.'

'At times over the past few years, we've been tempted to go beyond four seasons, but mostly because making this show is a rare, creatively-fulfilling joy, and at the end of the day, we don't want to tread water just because the water is so warm and pleasant.'

In July 2019, Michael attended the San Diego Comic-con along with the cast, who all revealed that despite being devastated over its end, the final season of The Good Place will have a satisfying conclusion. Jameela Jamil, who plays Tahani Al-Jamil, confirmed that it would "give the fans the ending they deserve" and William Jackson-Harper, who stars as Chidi Anagonye, affirmed that it was "absolutely the right time"

Kristen Bell - AKA Eleanor Shellstrop - added, "It's really hard to say, 'Yeah, it's the right ending for it'. Also because we know what's gonna happen and we know the statement they're making with it, it's really worth it," whilst Manny Jacinto, who plays Jason Mendoza, said, it felt "emotionally right to end it at this point."

Is there a trailer for The Good Place season 4?

There's not even a release date yet, let alone a trailer! But we'll update you as soon as one comes in. However, there is this adorable video starring the cast to confirm that the show is back!

What is The Good Place about?

The Good Place is about a woman named Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell) who led a pretty selfish life before she died. The series starts with her entering an office and speaking to someone named Michael (Ted Danson), who tells her that she's dead and has ended up in The Good Place.

Since then, it was discovered that Eleanor had actually been sent to The Bad Place by Michael, who was actually a demon, and who had made a place full of things that would wind Eleanor up for eternity.

Netflix says, "Due to an error, self-absorbed Eleanor Shellstrop arrives at the Good Place after her death. Determined to stay, she tries to become a better person."

What has happened in The Good Place so far?

NBC recapped, "The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop, an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael, she's determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

"The first two seasons featured surprise after surprise and twist after twist, including a world-upending Season 1 finale that threw everything up in the air. At the end of Season 2, Michael appeared in front of the Judge to argue that the humans may have been judged unfairly and deserve a second chance. With a snap of her fingers, the Judge sent the humans back to Earth, in a new timeline where they never died.

"Also seeking redemption, along with Eleanor, are Senegalese philosopher Chidi Anagonye, who is tortured by decision-making; elegant Pakistani-British socialite Tahani Al-Jamil; and dance-obsessed Floridian Jason Mendoza. Michael is aided by Janet, a human-esque repository for all of the knowledge in the universe."

What will happen in season four of The Good Place?

Excellent question! Of course, we can't know for sure - and why would you want to ruin it for yourself instead of watching? But in the season 3 finale, Chidi and Eleanor made the decision to have Chidi's memory erased moments after remembering his and Eleanor's romantic relationship, so that he doesn't ruin an experiment set by the evil demon Shawn, who has brought Chidi's ex-girlfriend Simone to the Good Place too.

Is The Good Place on Netflix?

It sure is! The first three seasons are all available to stream on Netflix in the UK. It airs on NBC in the US.

Where was The Good Place filmed?

According to IMDb, the show was filmed predominantly at Universal Studios in California, but some of the areas in The Good Place were filmed at the Huntington Library in California. Tahani's mansion in season one is also based on a mansion on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, which is then digitally altered to make it seem much bigger.

Although season two was set partly in Australia, the show did not film there, according to show creator Michael Schur who told E Online, "We really did consider filming in Australia. We had plans to do that, or at least ask NBC if we could do that. It ended up that really only the first few episodes are about Australia. And then once they start figuring it out they go to different places—Jacksonville, Budapest, Nevada.

"If we had spent the whole year in Australia the way The Leftovers did, I think we would have fought for it hard, but when we really sat back and looked at the season it didn't make a ton of sense because Sydney's climate and environment is very similar to Los Angeles, and we decided there were better ways to spend our money."

He also told Rolling Stone about season three, "It’s much harder to produce a season of TV with no significant standing sets. But NBC has been very accommodating.

"And luckily, I work with the very best line producers in the universe, Morgan Sackett and David Hyman, who just somehow magically figure out how to do whatever it is that we dream up."

Who wrote The Good Place?

The Good Place was thought up and created by Michael Schur, who is best known for creating some of America's comedy gold. He worked on The Office (US) - as well as starring on the show as Dwight Schrute's cousin Mose, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and was also a producer on Master of None, starring Aziz Ansari who he worked with on Parks and Rec. He started his career writing for Saturday Night Live, and also wrote an episode of the Black Mirror anthology series, 'Nosedive'. So he's got a pretty good CV!

Other writers on the show include Andrew Law, who has worked on Silicon Valley, Late Night with Seth Meyers and the Emmy Awards; Cord Jefferson who also worked on Master of None and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore; and Megan Amram, who also worked on The Simpsons, Silicon Valley and Parks and Recreation. Andrew and Megan are also actors.
