TOWIE has been on our screens for over ten years now and it’s a huge part of our reality telly lives. However, in a bid to keep it fresh, it’s been reported that bosses have axed ten members of the current cast in the show’s biggest shake-up in history.

The ITVBe show is no stranger to axing cast over the years, with many stars finding themselves shown the door over lack of storylines.

The shocking news was confirmed in a post across all social media platforms. The statement read: “After more than ten fabulous years following the lives of our ever-growing cast, TOWIE will be evolving with some changes. As it looks ahead to future series’ to come, the next instalment of our BAFTA award winning show returns to Essex to follow a smaller group of cast members.”

The statement was shared with the caption: 'This change allows our cast more time to film their real lives, showing more of their personal passions and professions, alongside their strong bonds and dynamics with family and friends ✨

'Those who won’t appear regularly on screen next series will always be part of the TOWIE family and we wholeheartedly thank them for sharing their lives with us in recent years ❤️

'As always, their wellbeing is of paramount importance to us and we will continue to offer welfare support if needed to all past and present TOWIE cast. We ask and urge all our viewers to think before commenting below, and remember that #ThesePeopleAreAllReal

'Thank you to our audience for your continued support. #TOWIE will be back soon for it’s 29th series on @ITVBe, stay tuned for further announcements 🙌'

Before the statement was issued, insiders teased that axing cast members was because the show wanted to go back to basics and focus on a group of smaller characters instead of a big group. The most recent series had a whopping 47 faces.

It’s believed that veteran casts members – including Chloe Sims and her sisters Demi and Frankie will still have a place on the show.

Newer cast members, like Chloe Brockett and Harry Lee, could be at risk and historically, cast members in happy relationships have faded away on the show as their lives lack dramatic storylines.

TOWIE bosses are yet to confirm which cast members will take part in the next series when it returns later this year.
