Swan Lane closed from Coupland Road to Green Lane/Swan Lane as a result of an 'accidental' fire.

The blaze started at Swan Commercials at around 3pm (Saturday 19th June).

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said:

"Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial building on Swan Lane, Hindley.

Four fire engines from Wigan, Hindley and Leigh fire stations arrived quickly at the scene.

The fire involved three heavy goods vehicles and a large quantity of tyres located in the building’s yard.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets to bring the fire under control.

GMFRS crews remain in attendance.”

The road had to be closed for around 90 minutes

Buses were being turned round and diverted.

There was no access for pedestrians - although after about an hour police had reopened the road.
