The city of Manchester has a rich and diverse musical history, so it's no surprise that epic bands continue to pour from its streets. The breeding ground for household names like The Verve, The Stone Roses, New Order, Joy Division, The Hollies, Happy Mondays and The Smiths to name a few; we take a look at the next crop of musicians looking to follow in their Mancunian masters footsteps. Check out our new-for-old list below...

1. The Watchmakers

For fans of: The Velvet Underground, The Verve, Primal Scream

A fusion of shimmering, mind expanding aural surrealism and neo-psych grooves... we like!

2. The Gramotones

For fans of: The Kinks, Inspiral Carpets, Paul Weller, The Smiths

With a flair for intricate vocal melodies and driving beats, like their modfather heroes, this Manchester four-piece are making a name for themselves.

3. Jordan Allen

For fans of: Jake Bugg, The Arctic Monkeys, The Hives

With sharp, intelligent lyrics and an even sharper Northern accent, this guy has swagger in the bucket loads!

4**. COMMUNITY **

For fans of: The Courteeners, The Libertines, The National, Doves

Originally from the Potteries, this now-Manchester-based alt rock outfit enjoy soaring guitars, pounding drums and glorious vocals (see below).

5. Blossoms

For fans of: The Doors, Tame Impala

Blossoms, a mosaic five piece formed in 2013 are not content with being classed as psyche-pop, instead inventing their own genre sub-genre, dubbed Ethereal Nostalgic Sonance. Get out in the sun and turn it up loud!

6. Mutineers

For fans of: The Smiths

OK, so they've been going for a while now. But when your previous employers include The Cardinals and Johnny Marr, you know your band members are good! Melancholic indie pop from the heart of Manchester.

7. Slydigs

For fans of: Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Verve, Oasis With the swagger of Jagger, Slydigs’ ship sails straight and true on waves of pure blues rock 'n' roll!
