Dates and times confirmed for Manchester tributes to the Queen

Tributes include a cathedral service and a national moment of reflection

Manchester City Council have confirmed the details of tribute events happening in the next week to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Book of Condolence

The physical Books of Condolence in Central Library - along with the online Book of Condolence on the Council’s website - are currently open to the public.

Mourners have been invited to write their own messages of condolence which will be sent to the Royal Family.

Both the physical and online books of condolence will close at 8pm on Tuesday September 20th.

Queen Elizabeth II and Manchester Exhibition

An photo and video exhibition is open to the public today to commemorate the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II and her trips to Greater Manchester.

Manchester Cathedral Service

A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the late Queen Elizabeth II will be open to the public this Sunday, September 18th at Manchester Cathedral.

The service is due to begin at 2.30pm.

National Moment of Reflection

A national moment of reflection is being observed in Manchester with a maroon being set off from Central Library at 8pm to mark the start and end of a one minute silence.

This will also be marked by the Lord Mayor in St Ann’s Square who will be joined by the Bishop of Manchester, the Dean and other inter-faith colleagues.

Manchester residents have been invited to attend to pay their respects to the late Queen.

The State Funeral

Big screens in the city centre will be showing coverage of the State Funeral from 9am on Monday, September 19th.

These will be put up in Cathedral Gardens, Exchange Square and inside Manchester Cathedral.
