It's hoped villages like Hunmanby will get a tourism boost now that most Covid restrictions have been eased across England.

Hunmanby Councillor Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff says the village is 'open for business', and wants locals and tourists to play their part: "We do get visitors to the area, but we're very lucky that a lot of our local businesses are supported by the local population.

"I think the key message is that we've had lots of businesses running at under-capacity - or have been forced to close - because of the pandemic.

"The restrictions are reducing: I think it's time now to have a bit of fun this Summer.

"The last 18 months have at best been challenging for people; I think some people would just like to go in somewhere and perhaps have a pint or a meal without wondering if they're allowed to move about.

"Within walking distance here you have access to a railway station and a bus service, along with a great local deli, a brilliant Church café group which supports people and playing fields.

"Most of all we have a real sense of community. We all live side by side; Hunmanby is all one community with people from all sorts of backgrounds".
