An investigation is underway after a man was left with facial injuries following a reported argument in Stoke-on-Trent.

Just before 9pm on Tuesday 23 April, police received a call about a man who had gone into a shop on Liverpool Road after being assaulted.

It followed an argument involving the victim and another man, it's understood.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and a 29-year-old was taken to hospital after suffering a wound to his face, which officers believe was caused by a blade.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Staffordshire Police have released a description of the suspect. He was wearing a grey tracksuit and a knee-length black puffer jacket with no sleeves and was carrying a green bag, the force said.

He is believed to be in his 40s.

A cordon was set up on Liverpool Road while officers searched the area and carried out CCTV enquiries to find out more about what happened.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and for anybody with relevant dash cam of CCTV footage to get in touch.
