The A19 is currently closed in both directions due to a police incident.

A closure has been in place between the A689 at Wolviston and the A179 at Sheraton since just after 3pm.

Reports on social media suggest bomb disposal experts have evacuated the petrol station at the Ron Perry Services.

Cleveland Police said: “The A19 is currently closed in both directions between A689 Wolviston and the A179. This is due to a suspected explosive device being taken to a garage and waiting to be examined by EOD.”

Highways North East have warned drivers to expect long delays in both directions, though there are diversions in place.
