Since the rise of smart phones and social media over the years, emojis have become a daily staple in our lives, from a simple thumbs up or love heart, to something a little more eccentric like a unicorn or an aubergine, there's no denying the fact they are on the rise!

However, if you think you are 'cool' and 'young' using emojis in your daily lives, you might want to think again...

Perspectus Global have conducted a new survey with 2000 16-29-year-olds, with results confirming us humans send a massive 76 emojis per week on average.

But perhaps the most interesting findings from the survey was which emojis are actually considered out-dated and old fashioned, including the laughing face emoji, the poo emoji and the thumbs up emoji.

The top 10 emojis that make you 'officially old':

1) Thumbs up

2) Red heart

3) OK hand

4) Check mark

5) Pile of poo

6) Loud crying face

7) See-no-evil monkey

8) Clapping hands

9) Kiss mark

10) Grimacing face

Evie Porter of Perspectus Global said in a statement, “With the average Briton sending 76 emojis a week, across multiple platforms, it’s clear that these symbols are now a vital part of our daily communication - on both a personal and professional level.

“Yet this research indicates the importance of assessing which ones you use. Unless you want to be seen as old fashioned, it seems wise to avoid the thumbs up symbol.”

How many of these do you use? 👀🙈
