Children given opportunity to learn Foo Fighters' music for FREE
Rocksteady: Just PLAY is launched

Children in 10 separate towns and cities are being offered the opportunity to learn to play Foo Fighters’ music for free.
Foo Fighters have joined forces with Europe’s largest rock school, Rocksteady, to launch Rocksteady: Just PLAY which gives kids the chance to play their favourite Foo Fighters’ song regardless of whether they have past experience on an instrument or not.
Open to children aged 5 to 16, the Rocksteady: Just PLAY workshops are taking place on Saturday 16th February in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Northampton, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Guildford, Kingston and Romford.
Instruments and teachers will be provided at the 30-minute lessons by Rocksteady Music School. Together with getting to be part of a real-life rock band, children taking part will be entered into a prize draw to win exclusive merchandise including t-shirts, vinyl albums and signed drumsticks.

“We see first hand every day the massive benefits music can have to children’s confidence, wellbeing and sense of identity. Some of the children who need music in their lives the most would not necessarily consider themselves musical and so it is imperative that they are given the opportunity as early as possible to pick up an instrument and just play.”
Inspiring this project, last year Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl challenged himself to play several musical instruments non-stop for 23 minutes straight. This challenge then formed the basis of a two-part mini documentary called PLAY.
Dave Grohl says: “Watching my kids start to play music and learn to sing or play drums, it brings me back to the time when I was their age listening to albums (and) learning from listening.”
Running in 30-minute slots from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 16th February, there are no advance bookings for the Rocksteady: Just PLAY workshops. Parents are advised to turn up on the day and register with a Rocksteady member of staff.
