Mick Thomson becomes third Slipknot member to have spinal surgery in 8 months

Formidable Slipknot axeman Mick Thomson has undergone spinal surgery in California.
The 43-year-old heavy metal titan went under the knife at Beverly Hills Spine Surgery in Los Angeles with orthopaedic surgeon Brian Perri overseeing the procedure.
Mick took to Instagram to share photos of two x-rays, writing: “I recently joined the cyborg club. Sore as f*** but hope to be back to mid 2000s banging by our next record cycle. Should probably just have every disc replaced all the way down to be safe. Dr. Perri and the entire staff were awesome.”
Of course, the guitarist isn’t the only Slipknot member to have surgery recently.
Back in October, fellow guitarist Jim Root underwent disk replacement surgery two days after Slipknot’s performance at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky.
“Seems as if fractured vertebrae and haemorrhaged disks are an occupational hazard for metal bands,” he told his Instagram followers.
“Early in the morning after Louder Than Life, I flew out for disk replacement surgery. Other than being a bit sore and spun out from jet lag and Norco, it’s all good.”
Astonishingly, in June Corey Taylor revealed he had unknowingly broken his neck from an injury he sustained “a while back.”
Posting a picture of himself wearing a neck brace and with a huge grin etched across his face, Corey tweeted: “Basically broke my neck a while back & didn't realize it. Had 2 have disc replaced & work on vertebrae.”
