Although 2018 has been a year for shock romances, it's also been quite heartbreaking seeing so many of our favourite celebrity couples going separate ways.

Whether it was Cheryl and Liam Payne, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, or reality TV favourites Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood, 2018 has certainly been a year for heartbreak. Check out the saddest celebrity splits below:

Cheryl and Liam Payne

After welcoming their son Bear in March 2017, Cheryl and One Direction singer Liam Payne announced their split in July 2018.


The pair have remained friends, with Liam recently praising Cheryl for her comeback single 'Love Made Me Do It'.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan

After nine years of marriage, Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan announced their split in 2018. The pair share their daughter Everly together.


Months after the split, Channing is now reportedly dating pop star Jessie J, with the pair dropping a number of hints on social media.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson

After a whirlwind romance which even involved an engagement, singer Ariana Grande and Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson called off their romance in October 2018.

Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong

Despite being married for 11 years, Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong split in January, with the couple being granted a divorce in October 2018.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

Actress Jennifer Aniston and her husband Justin Theroux, who married in 2015, announced their split at the beginning of 2018.

Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood were the fan favourites from Love Island 2017, and they even landed their own TV show. But after a series of rows, the pair decided to end their romance for good at the beginning of the year.
