Dr. Martens have launched two new boots celebrating the 50th anniversary of Black Sabbath’s first two studio albums ‘Black Sabbath’ and ‘Paranoid’.

On sale from Thursday 1st October, the Dr. Martens x Black Sabbath collection features the artwork designed by ‘Keef’ (Keith McMillan) that adorns the heavy metal pioneers’ seminal first two records.

The Black Sabbath collection is the first in a series from Dr. Martens celebrating the shoe brand’s 60th anniversary. Following Sabbath, Dr. Martens will be paying tribute to other iconic musicians, artists and creatives who hold an important place in history.

Revealing more details about the designs, Dr. Martens write: “Dr. Martens x Black Sabbath is a celebration of our shared heritage: heavy metal and the subversive style that came with it. The 1460 Sabbath boot is splashed with the iconic graphic from the band’s eponymous debut and kitted out with purple popped eyelets, flat braided laces and core Docs markings. Through the laces is a ‘Henry’ badge — the iconic flying devil/angel that’s become synonymous with Sabbath over the years.

“The 1461 Sabbath shoe is built with the same eyelets, ‘Henry’ motif and heel loop, but pays tribute to their second album Paranoid. The album artwork is digitally printed on the ankle, and the 3-eye shoe is finished with embossed Black Sabbath lettering on the vamp.”

Black Sabbath’s eponymous debut album ‘Black Sabbath’ celebrated its 50th anniversary in February, while ‘Paranoid’ hit the half-century landmark this month.

Tony Iommi tweeted last week: “I look back and am amazed how we released ‘Black Sabbath’ in February 1970 then toured, wrote, recorded and released ‘Paranoid’ only 7 months later! And these weren’t knock-off albums, they are both full of our classic tracks.”

Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ is being reissued as an expansive 5LP / 4CD box set on Friday 9th October and it’s backed by an array of bonus material.
