Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood issues statement as more gigs are postponed
Their German shows been axed
Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood has issued a statement to fans after more of their summer 2020 concerts have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Since late March, Iron Maiden have been forced to postpone or cancel a series of headline Legacy of the Beast Tour dates, plus their planned festival appearances at Download Festival, Graspop and Copenhell Festival have also been axed.
Yesterday (20th April), Iron Maiden postponed four German shows in June and July that were scheduled to take place at Bremen Buergerweide, Cologne Rhein-Energie-Stadium, Berlin Waldbuehne and Stuttgart Mercedes Benz Arena.
The German government has banned large gatherings of any kind until at least 31st August 2020, meaning the shows can’t go ahead.
In an open letter to fans, Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood has addressed the tour cancellations and said that the band are ‘safe and isolated indoors and send you all their very best wishes to stay safe and healthy.’
Rod’s full statement reads:
Dear All,
Just a quick note to say that I hope you’re all safe with your families and following the advice of your Governments and their scientific and medical advisors in these very difficult and tragic times over much of our planet. We all need to help bring an end to this Pandemic by following the advice and helping one another when we can, especially the more vulnerable. We want to see you all healthy and well when we make it to your country. And we want to see you as much as you want to see us!
I also wanted to let you know that I’ve been speaking to all the band and they are all safe and isolated indoors and send you all their very best wishes to stay safe and healthy.
As we get any new information about the planned shows we will continue to post it here. This is of course a very difficult situation and no-one can truly predict what will happen but we will continue to keep our options open while we see what develops and, l hope, make sensible decisions. And we will keep you the fans informed at the appropriate times. So please bear with us.

Inspired by Iron Maiden’s comic book and mobile phone game of the same name and featuring an ambitious set design, The Legacy of the Beast Tour opened in Tallinn, Estonia in May 2018 and the UK arena leg took place in July and August of that year.
The tour has featured rarities including ‘Flight of Icarus’, the Blaze Bayley-era tracks ‘The Clansman’ and ‘Sign of the Cross’, plus ‘For the Greater Good of God’ and ‘Where Eagles Dare’.
