Celebrating the release of 'Hackney Diamonds'

The Rolling Stones played an intimate secret show in New York last night (19th October) on the eve of the release of their 24th studio album ‘Hackney Diamonds.’
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood threw an impromptu ‘Hackney Diamonds’ party at the 650-capacity Racket NYC venue and they packed the venue with friends, fellow musicians and celebrities.
Among those in attendance were Jimmy Fallon, Trevor Noah, Daniel Craig, Mary Kate Olsen, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Chris Rock, Taylor Hill, Rachel Weisz, Christie Brinkley, Ed Burns, Keegan-Michael Key, Minka Kelly, Christy Turlington and ‘Hackney Diamonds’ producer Andrew Watt.
An hour-and-a-half into the evening, the venue announced “For one night only, The Rolling Stones!” and Mick, Keith and Ronnie took to the tiny stage.
The Rolling Stones were flanked by touring band members Darry Jones (bass) and Steve Jordan (drums), and accompanied by keyboardist Matt Clifford and background singer Chanel Haynes.
Aptly, The Stones kicked off the set with anthem ‘Shattered’, a song inspired by New York life in the seventies.
The short set also featured the live debuts of ‘Hackney Diamonds’ lead single ‘Angry’, and album tracks ‘Whole Wide World’ and ‘Bite My Head Off’, together with seminal Stones classics ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash.’
For the encore, Lady Gaga, resplendent in a red spangled jump suit, emerged to deliver an electrifying duet with Mick on the gospel ballad from Hackney Diamonds, ‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven.’

Lady Gaga is an outspoken rock music fan and she took part of her stage moniker from the classic Queen song ‘Radio Ga Ga.’
In March 2017, Lady Gaga performed ‘Moth Into Flame’ with Metallica at The Grammy Awards, however the collaboration was blighted by technical issues.
She also guest performed 'Gimme Shelter' with The Rolling Stones at The Prudential Center in New Jersey in December 2012.
