After six weeks of intense voting, the 80s has officially been crowned The Best Decade by Absolute Radio listeners!

Since the end of February, we’ve been getting nostalgic and celebrating a different decade on air each week that we have an Absolute Radio station for – the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s.

As part of the six-week celebrations, we called on YOU, our esteemed Absolute Radio listeners, to vote for your favourite decade.

Absolute Radio's The Best Decade

Thousands of you had your say, and, as revealed on The Dave Berry Breakfast Show this morning (14th April), the 80s emerged victorious with a whopping 45% of the total votes.

The decade of The A-Team, MTV, the Walkman, Dallas, the Rubik's Cube and Back to the Future beat the 90s into second place (25% of votes), with the 70s coming in third (18% of votes).

Dave Berry says: “It has been really fun over the last few weeks having the chance to champion a different decade of music, film, TV and people across the station.

“It was great to see our listeners get so passionate about their favourite decade, whilst also discovering some hidden facts and music from each era”.

Musically, the 80s was the glorious decade that gave us The Smiths, Madonna, Prince, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Madness, The Cure, Culture Club, The Human League and Bon Jovi to name but a few.

You can listen to these artists and many more 24/7 on our dedicated station, Absolute Radio 80s. Listen on your digital radio, in the FREE Absolute Radio app or on your smart speaker.
