What is Absolute Radio 20s?

Absolute Radio 20s is a new music station from the people who bring you Absolute Radio, Absolute 80s and our family of eight stations. If Absolute Radio is where Real Music Matters, then Absolute Radio 20s is where New Music Matters. It’s a haven for tastemakers who love being the first to know about the music which is coming out or is expected soon. Importantly, it’s also a place for you to dip into if you fancy something different to the main Absolute Radio or stations like Absolute Radio 90s.

What music does Absolute Radio 20s play?

It plays new rock and alternative tracks from existing and emerging bands and artists. There’ll also be a few surprises along the way too.

At launch, you’ll hear songs from the likes of Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, Blossoms, Courteeners, Freya Ridings, Haim, Michael Kiwanuka, Billie Eilish, Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Circa Waves and more. The honest truth is we’ll play the best of the new music which comes out, whenever it comes out.

Did I just hear a song from 2019 on Absolute Radio 20s?

In the first few months, you might hear the odd track which was originally released in 2019 but still feels very current and which is still being discovered by lots of music fans.

Can I hear the Dave Berry Breakfast show, Hometime, Frank Skinner or Jason Manford on Absolute Radio 20s?

No. There are eight other choices of music for hearing those programmes, so we wanted to do something different and special for new music fans. Plus you can still listen to Dave, Hometime, Frank and Jason's podcasts any time you like!

Who are the presenters on Absolute Radio 20s?

Our resident new music aficionados Danielle Perry and Ross Buchanan will be your guides on Absolute Radio 20s. Danielle hosts the Sunday Night Music Club and as a Mercury Music Prize judge and performer, she’s been bringing new and alternative music to the station for five years. She’ll be joined by new-boy Ross Buchanan who is our man on the red carpet for those rowdy awards shows like the BRIT and Q Awards. Both are passionate about new music and emerging artists and they’ll be giving their views and introducing people to the tracks we’re playing.

What time are their shows on?

Well, that’s where we’re doing things a little differently. There won’t be traditional radio shows, but both will be popping up across the station to introduce the music and tell you where its come from, why it’s relevant and what its context is. So, don’t worry – we’re not making them work 24/7.
