Britpop Classical tour announced featuring five 90s indie vocalists

An orchestral celebration of Britpop has been announced featuring members of five 90s indie bands.
The Britpop Classical tour will take in a trio of shows opening at London’s Eventim Apollo on Friday 7th June 2024 before calling in at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Saturday 8th June, and Manchester Bridgewater Hall on Sunday 9th June.
Vocalists taking to the stage alongside the full orchestra are Simon Fowler (Ocean Colour Scene), John Power (Cast / The La’s), Mark Chadwick (The Levellers), Mark Morriss (The Bluetones), and Saffron (Republica).
Between them they are responsible for millions of sales with huge 90’s hits including ‘The Day We Caught the Train’ and ‘The Riverboat Song’ ( Ocean Colour Scene), ‘Walkaway’ and ‘Alright’ ( Cast), ‘There She Goes’ (The La’s), ‘What A Beautiful Day’ and ‘One Way’ ( Levellers), ‘Slight Return’ and ‘Cut Some Rug’ ( The Bluetones), and ‘Ready to Go’ and ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ (Republica).
Alongside their own hits, the five vocalists will also be giving other iconic songs from the Britpop era a symphonic makeover.
The three concerts have been announced to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the word ‘Britpop’ being used in the media.
Tickets to Britpop Classical go on sale RIGHT HERE at 10am on Friday 20th October.
Ocean Colour Scene’s Simon Fowler says: “Really looking forward to playing some of our hit songs with an orchestra at some of the country’s most beautiful venue’s and meeting up with faces from the past that we had great fun with.”
Mark Morriss of The Bluetones adds: “To have the opportunity to perform the Bluetones songs in this style, in these venues, is not something I ever dreamt would be possible. I absolutely cannot wait for these shows.”
