Courteeners and Supergrass' Gaz Coombes lead this week's album chart race

A good week for music

Courteeners

Courteeners could be on course for their first ever UK Number 1 album with the 15th anniversary reissue of their debut album ‘St. Jude.’

Featuring the towering anthems ‘What Took You So Long?’, ‘No You Didn’t, No You Don’t’ and ‘Not Nineteen Forever’, ‘St. Jude’ originally peaked at Number 4 in the UK following its release in April 2008.

The expansive ‘St. Jude’ reissue, which features the original album plus B-sides, non-album singles and demos, is currently sitting pretty at No.1 on the Official Album Chart at the midweek stage.

If it remains at Number 1, it will be Courteeners’ first ever chart-topper on home soil.

In total, Courteeners have notched up seven Top 10 albums, including all six of their studio albums: 2010’s ‘Falcon’ (No. 6), 2013’s ‘Anna ‘(No. 6), 2014’s ‘Concrete Love’ (No. 3), 2016’s ‘Mapping The Rendezvous’ (No. 4) and 2020’s ‘More. Again. Forever.’ (No. 2).

Elsewhere on this week’s midweek chart, Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes is riding high at Number 2 with his latest solo album ‘Turn The Car Around.’

The critically acclaimed record looks a dead cert to be Gaz Coombes’ first ever Top 10 album. May 2018’s ‘World's Strongest Man’ peaked at Number 12.

Supergrass’ debut album ‘I Should Coco’ was a chart-topper back in 1995 and the band’s first five studio efforts all reached the Top 10.

Courteeners play a huge and completely sold out concert at Manchester’s Heaton Park on Friday 9th June 2023 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of ‘St. Jude.’

Gaz Coombes hits the road this April for a 12-date headline tour of the UK and Ireland.
