Previously only available to watch online in pixelated low definition, Embrace have premiered their newly remastered ‘Gravity’ video in glorious 1080p HD on Absolute Radio.

Penned by Coldplay and personally gifted to Embrace by frontman Chris Martin, ‘Gravity’ peaked at number 7 on the UK singles chart in August 2004 – their highest charting song since ‘Come Back to What You Know’ in 1998 at the time – and served as the first taster of their blockbuster chart-topping fourth studio album ‘Out of Nothing’.

Preceding the single’s 16th anniversary this coming Sunday (30th August), you can take a first look at the remastered ‘Gravity’ video, originally recorded at London’s world-famous Abbey Road Studios, below.

Watch Embrace’s remastered 'Gravity' video:

Embrace frontman Danny McNamara explains he first heard ‘Gravity’ at a Coldplay live show: “I'd already heard Gravity ‘cause they'd played it at a gig and I remember telling Chris (Martin) that I thought it was a really beautiful song. Like Trouble or The Scientist.”

But it was a phone call from Chris, spurred on by then-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, where Embrace were officially offered the track, as Danny continues, “In the end, Chris thought the song sounded too much like Embrace for Coldplay to use. I remember when he rang me up to ask me about it he was really sheepish and worried about how he might come across. Gwyneth was in the background pushing him into it, saying “go on ask him, ask him…”.

Guitarist Richard McNamara adds: “We were pretty much into the mixing stage of the album, I think we were working on a couple of final songs, so we kind of dismissed the offer out of hand because we had so much faith in what we’d already recorded, the potential backlash just didn't seem necessary. But after a night of soul searching we all figured, ‘come on guys, it’s a great song by one of the worlds best songwriters, and he’s handing it to us on a plate... we’d be crazy not to at least have a go!’”

‘Out of Nothing’ and ‘This New Day’ reissues

The ‘Gravity’ video premiere comes ahead of the vinyl reissue of Embrace’s number one albums ‘Out of Nothing’ and 'This New Day' (2006) on Friday 30th October.
