Evanescence have premiered the official music video for their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s seminal 1977 anthem ‘The Chain’.

Directed by frequent collaborator, P.R. Brown (My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, Green Day), the video sees Amy Lee and co. belt out the tune in an atmospherically lit, darkened room.

The song was recorded for Xbox Game Studios’ Gears 5 and, in keeping with the game, a miniature set was constructed for the music video that parallels the dystopian environment of Gears 5.

Behold the video here:

Commenting on the song, Amy Lee said: “The lyrics make me feel the power of standing together against great forces trying to pull us apart, perhaps even from the inside. I really wanted to drive that home in our version.”

Video director P.R. Brown adds: “The goal of the video is to show the bond of this band as they deliver a powerful take on a classic song. The tie in with Gears 5 presented an opportunity to combine the game world together with the band performance in a post-apocalyptic setting.

“The band emerges from the ashes to come together. We wanted to bring these worlds together and feel both the force of the band and the game.”

Just for the heck of it, here's Fleetwood Mac's original version of 'The Chain':

Evanescence are currently hard at work on their fifth studio album, which they hope to unleash in 2020.

The band’s last studio album, ‘Synthesis’, was released in November 2017 and featured orchestral and electronic reworkings of previous Evanescence material alongside two new tracks.
