To celebrate the launch of the Kammy’s Supporters Club podcast, we caught up with Kammy to find out more…

Hello Kammy. Congratulations on the all-new Kammy's Supporters Club podcast. What can listeners expect in the coming weeks?

Kammy: “Well, hopefully, it's a whole new concept in the podcast world. Famous football fans talking about their team that they love, and the music associated with their time as a fan of the club they love. It's just gonna be unbelievable.”

What’s your earliest footballing memory?

Kammy: “I remember – oh God this is gonna make me sound ancient - going to Ayresome Park (Middlesbrough’s ground until 1995) with a free ticket in the 1966 World Cup to see North Korea win. I was so lucky to get a free ticket. I don't know how it came about, but my dad managed to get one for me and I went to the match on my own, only eight years of age.”

What's your biggest high and low of being a football supporter?

Kammy: “Well, England are my team because I played for so many clubs. (When I was younger) my ambition to play for Middlesbrough, my dream to play for Leeds, and now I stay neutral. England are my team. So, the biggest high was in Japan in 2002 (at the World Cup). Me and Jeff Stelling went over there when England beat Argentina with a goal from David Beckham. We found out what supporting in a club was really about, albeit a big club, as in England.”

Alongside the podcast, you’re going to be joining Absolute Radio as the Euro 2020 correspondent. Are you looking forward to it?

Kammy: “I'm really looking forward to it. I needed an excuse for my wife to be able to watch all the games, and this is just the absolute ticket.”

Who is your tip to win Euro 2020? Do you think England, Scotland or Wales stand a chance?

Kammy: “Only England. This is the best chance we will ever have - and I know I've said it before - but with Foden, Mount, Kane, we have the best opportunity. France are not what they used to be. Portugal, not what they used to be. Spain, not what they used to be. We have now got an unbelievable chance to win it.

“Well, Scotland, are in our group so I don't want to wish them too well, but they always put up a fight. Scotland, you know, they take a massive fan base with them - maybe not so this time around because of Covid. But the interest with Scotland and Wales makes it all the more exciting.”
