Music legend Kate Bush has made a very rare public statement as her timeless anthem ‘Running Up That Hill’ storms up the charts across the globe thanks to Netflix TV series Stranger Things.

‘Running Up That Hill’ features prominently in the fourth season of Stranger Things, and it’s mainly associated with the character Max Mayfield, portrayed by Sadie Sink.

Lifted from Kate Bush’s ‘Hounds of Love’ album, ‘Running Up That Hill’ previously peaked at Number 3 in the UK shortly after its release in August 1985 and last week it re-entered the chart at Number 8.

Showing no signs of slowing down, ‘Running Up That Hill’ is now battling Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ for the Number 1 spot and it looks likely to secure its highest ever chart position.

Commenting on the success of ‘Running Up That Hill’, Kate Bush wrote on her official website yesterday: “You might’ve heard that the first part of the fantastic, gripping new series of 'Stranger Things’ has recently been released on Netflix.

“It features the song, ‘Running Up That Hill’ which is being given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show - I love it too!

“Because of this, Running Up That Hill is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8. It’s all really exciting! Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song.

“I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July.

“Best wishes, Kate”
