Liam Gallagher has told Absolute Radio he was going to the pub when he got the call to collaborate with Dave Grohl on ‘Everything’s Electric.’

Appearing on The Dave Berry Breakfast Show ahead of his fervently awaited performance of ‘Everything’s Electric’ at The BRIT Awards with Mastercard tonight, Liam told Dave Berry his new record ‘C’mon You Know’ was already done and dusted when he was approached by the Foo Fighters legend.

“So, (the) album (‘C’mon You Know’) is finished, never heard of this song – there was always talk about Dave doing something, maybe on the last one, but it didn’t happen. Then obviously lockdown and stuff,” Liam said.

“So anyway, I’m ready to go to the pub, we’ve been recording in RAK (legendary London recording studios) for about two months on and off, so all the songs are ready. I’m off down to the pub and I get a phone call (going) ‘look, can you go back in the studio? Dave’s got a song for you with Greg Kurstin. Give it a listen, if you like it put a vocal down and maybe see if it goes on the album.’

“So I listened to it, I had to sack going to the pub. Went in (to the studio), whacked the vocal down sent it back to him. He sent it back with a few notes and there we have it!”

Asked what his reaction was when Dave Grohl got in touch, Liam joked: “I was going for f---‘s sake, man! I’ve been there (at the studio) for two months! (The album) was all done, track-listing was done and everything! But it’s a top tune, man.”

Heaping praise on Foo Fighters, Liam said: “We’ve played before (together) and I’ve done a festival for them a couple of years ago – they have their own festival.

“So I’ve done that and obviously I know them through Greg and all that. Foo Fighters are a top band. Dave Grohl knows how to write songs, man.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Liam shared his typically honest thoughts on the nominations at The BRIT Awards including whether Coldplay are a rock act and why he’s a fan of Geordie music sensation Sam Fender:

Liam Gallagher and Dave Grohl co-wrote ‘Everything’s Electric’ together and Grohl plays drums on the track. Frequent Foo Fighters collaborator, the multiple Grammy Award and Ivor Novello winner Greg Kurstin, has produced the song.

‘Everything’s Electric’ is the first taster for Liam Gallagher’s third solo album ‘C’mon You Know’, which is released on Friday 27th May 2022.

Gallagher will be hoping it’s his fourth consecutive Number 1 solo record following 2017’s ‘As You Were’, 2019’s ‘Why Me? Why Not.’ and his 2020 live album ‘MTV Unplugged (Live at Hull City Hall)’

Following the release of ‘C’mon You Know’, Liam Gallagher plays a series of shows this June including two sold-out gigs at Knebworth, a homecoming concert at Manchester Etihad Stadium and Glasgow Hampden Park.
