Happy Mondays, The Who, Oasis, Ride supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos unleash debut song

Newly formed indie supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos have unleashed their debut single ‘Gorilla Guerilla.’
Consisting of Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays, Black Grape), Zak Starkey (The Who, Oasis), Andy Bell (Oasis, Ride) and Bez (Happy Mondays, Black Grape), Mantra Of The Cosmos’ single premiere follows their live debut at London’s The Box last night (5th June).
The performance served as a warm-up for their headline appearance on The Glade Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday 25th June.
According to band leader Zak Starkey, Mantra of the Cosmos’ inaugural song ‘Gorilla Guerilla’ is a “fantastic psychedelic groove from a band of misfits, outsiders and innovators.”
Also waxing lyrical, Shaun Ryder adds: “It’s a f---ing blast mate!! It’s great when we’re not all irate.”
‘Gorilla Guerilla’ comes complete with a suitably trippy video directed by Shaun’s son Olli Ryder.

Mantra of the Cosmos is the brainchild of Zak Starkey, the eldest son of Beatles legend Ringo Starr.
Starkey has performed and recorded with The Who since 1996, and he’s played with an array of acts including Oasis, Johnny Marr, Paul Weller, The Icicle Works, The Waterboys, Bobby Womack and The Lightning Seeds.
Andy Bell says of his new musical venture: “It’s a pleasure to be part of Mantra of the Cosmos. Four like-minded souls who get off on the same music.”
Shaun Ryder confirmed in May that Mantra of the Cosmos were hard at work on their debut album.
