Nirvana fan cycles 150 km to map 'Nevermind' baby using GPS

A Nirvana fan in Australia has cycled exactly 150.2 kilometres to map the baby chasing a dollar bill from the ‘Nevermind’ album cover.
Pete Stokes cycled through the streets of Adelaide on a single-speed bike to recreate the iconic Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ artwork to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary last Friday (24th September).
45-year-old Stokes faithfully recreated the outline of the Nevermind baby in the suburbs of Burnside and Kensington and tracked his gargantuan cycle ride using GPS-based site Strava.
The remarkable ride took Stokes around eight hours to complete and the outline also includes the dollar bill on a hook and baby Spencer Elden’s somewhat angry looking face.
Stokes has previously sketched out Beethoven, dragons, foxes, dinosaurs, koala bears and his own self portrait by superimposing images over mapping software.
Asked by Guardian Australia what inspired him to recreate the Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ sleeve, 45-year-old Pete Stokes said: “It’s whatever takes my fancy at the time. Nirvana has its place in my record collection.
“When this album came out, I was in high school – I was about 14, and that’s when you’re forming your love of music.”
Last month it emerged that Spencer Elden, the man who appeared on Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ cover when he was a baby, is suing the band for child sexual exploitation.
