Watch incredible newly colourised Pink Floyd TV performance from 1967
The video was 10 months in the making
A keen Pink Floyd aficionado has painstakingly created a colourised version of the band's performance of ‘Apples and Oranges’ on American Bandstand 55 years ago.
On 7th November 1967, just two days after they arrived in the country for their inaugural tour, Pink Floyd made their US television debut on hit show American Bandstand for a rendition of their latest standalone single ‘Apples and Oranges.’
Introduced and interviewed by the legendary Dick Clark, Pink Floyd half-heartedly mimed along to the love song with Syd Barrett listlessly strumming his guitar and barely singing along.
Previously only available to watch in low quality black-and-white footage, a YouTuber based in Sweden who goes by the name of Artist on the Border has now unveiled an almost dream-like colourised version of the performance.
Having unveiled a black and white HD restoration in November, the colourised version was recently uploaded to Artist on the Border’s YouTube channel.
Using AI technology, Artist on the Border commenced work on the colour version in February 2021 and finished it 10 months later shortly before New Year.
Artist on the Border wrote: “Each frame of the 3350 required frames (music performance) had to be uploaded individually, downloaded again and individually named… I'm not doing this again, like this.”

Last March, David Gilmour once again stated that Pink Floyd are “done” and there are no plans to reform the legendary band.
Gilmour told Guitar Player magazine Pink Floyd has “run its course” and he doesn’t want return to performing stadium concerts with Roger Waters and Nick Mason.
