The Band of Mum & Dad joined Dave Berry LIVE on the Breakfast Show this morning (25th October) to belt out two classic tracks.
Showcasing their collective musical prowess, the sextet tore through a storming cover of Kings of Leon’s ubiquitous anthem ‘Sex on Fire’ before treating us to a rousing rendition of Stevie Nicks’ ‘Edge of Seventeen.’
We may be biased but for six people who had never played before, The Band of Mum & Dad were truly incredible and created pure aural alchemy.
The Band of Mum & Dad are Vanessa Knight (vocals), Wayne Dorman (lead guitar), Paul Jones (rhythm guitar), Darren Richardson (bass), Phil Knight (drums), and Freda Marsh (keys).

Brought to you in association with Wickes, The Dave Berry Breakfast Show started its search for The Band of Mum & Dad two months ago by asking the following questions:
“Did you play in a band in your younger years, but the passage of time and parenthood has put paid to that? Has life well and truly caught up with you? Well now you have another chance to play again with The Band of Mum & Dad.
“Dust off your drumsticks, bring out your bass, and go and get your Gibson – because it’s time to form a new band.”
After being inundated with amazing applications, we whittled down the entries to our final six and The Band of Mum & Dad supergroup was born.
Dave Berry says of The Band of Mum & Dad: "At Absolute Radio we’re the station where ‘real music matters’ and for many listeners, music has been something that they might have had fun creating and playing in their younger years - but due to the steady passage of time and having children, have since had to put on the backburner. But no more!
