Simon Pegg has described how hard it is to promote the new Star Trek film following the death Anton Yelchin.

Anton, 27, had starred in the film series as Chekhov since it began in 2009. On the June 19th it was confirmed he'd been killed at his home in California after a freak accident involving his jeep.

The young actor started his acting career at the age of 9, and steadily came to prominence with roles in films like Charlie Bartlett (2007), Fright Night (2011) and Like Crazy (2011). He is perhaps best known for his role in the Star Trek series where he played Chekhov, the crew's young Russian navigator.

Simon, who reprises his role as Scotty in Star Trek Beyond, says it's important the cast bang the drum for for the movie 'for Anton's sake, and for his memory'.

He says the cast have 'lost one of their family'.

Star Trek Beyond, which is out in cinemas on July 22nd, is one of Anton's last performances.
