South West Kinship Care Group

South West Kinship Care Group offer support and advice to kinship carers. A kinship carer is a relative who has full-time care of a child due to parental addiction, mental health issues, bereavement, or domestic violence.

South West Kinship Care Group provide support to kinship carers across Glasgow and the West of Scotland, most of whom are older and retired, but some must give up their jobs to look after these children, resulting in significant financial and emotional difficulties.

They meet and give support and advice to carers, acting as a support group service, while also organising activities for the children to provide a sense of community and enjoyment.

Cash for Kids grants allow the South West Kinship Care Group to provide vouchers for essentials like food and clothing to the families, or credit towards household gas and electricity bills, helping to ease financial difficulties, particularly during the holiday season.
