In September, we launched our first ever Big Charity Sports Challenge and we are delighted that it was a resounding success!!

Six sports groups from across Glasgow and the West got their fundraising hats on to raise money for Cash for Kids and their own sports group. Each group held various events, sponsored activities and gained support from local businesses in their communities.

After four fundraising weeks, we are delighted announce that the total raised was an incredible £22,943.37.

A MASSIVE congratulations to our overall winners, Glasgow Boys 2009, who raised an outstanding £10,364. On top of their total fundraised, we are delighted to grant the group £2,500 meaning the team have £12,864 to spend in their club.

Each of our runners up who raised over £2,000 will be granted back an extra £1,000 on top of their fundraising totals:

Juniors Soccer Team-£4,147.10

Eastbank Karate-£3,587.27

Park Sports Project-£2,425

Wing Tsjun Jung Fu-£2,205

Drumchapel United-£215

At our prize ceremony, we also handed out star prizes for which we granted £200 to the winners:

Social Media Interaction awarded to Juniors Soccer Team

PR Exposure awarded to Juniors Soccer Team

Creative Fundraising Idea awarded to Wings Tjun Kung Fu

Team work and Community Involvement awarded to Park Sports Project

Local Business Engagement awarded to Glasgow Boys 2009

The Charity Sports Challenge helped educate the clubs on marketing and fundraising to provide long term sustainability. The financial gain from the clubs also provides opportunities to develop volunteers and increased participation provides better health benefits and raised aspirations for disadvantaged young people.

We are absolutely thrilled with the result!!
