Jim Diamond Award 2018

In recognition of Jim Diamonds support for Cash for Kids, in 2016 we created The Jim Diamond Music Award, for which The Hunter Foundation has underwritten an award for £5,000 every year for 5 years.

Jim Diamond wanted to recognise two outstanding young people or groups of young people, who are making their mark on the music industry and for whom the journey to success has perhaps been challenging.

We were over-whelmed with applications this year and it was fantastic to see how much young, musical talent is right here in Glasgow and the West. After a very tough decision, our judges narrowed applications down to 7 finalists who performed for us in a live event in Sloans on Thursday 13th September.

Performing in our finals were:

Riley Music

Scarlett Randle

Lisa Kowalksi

Delphi

Robin Ashcroft

DLU

Beth Swan

Hosted by Clyde 1 presenter Cassi, the evening was absolutely fantastic as we were treated to a wide range of absolutely incredible performances.

Another difficult decision for our judges however we are delighted to announce that after much deliberation, the winners of the award and £2,500 music grant were Delphi and Beth Swan!

With the grant Delphi hope to be able to spend some time in a recording studio to put together some original music to showcase to the world. Beth would also like to spend some time in a recording studio whilst still taking on charitable gigs.

We are also very excited to have them both perform at our Cash for Kids lunch in December!
