The Chainsmokers have shared an emotional tribute to a fan on Twitter after he sadly passed away over the weekend after losing his battle with cancer.

After hearing the news, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall took to their Twitter account to share an emotional message to their 1.1 million followers.

Explaining the fan was supposed to attend their show in London but had to pull out due to ill health, Alex told fans the boys had made a 'stay strong' video for the man and told him he could be at the side of the stage during their next show.

Alex revealed the man had lost his battle with cancer and sadly passed away over the weekend. He said,

'We just heard from his dad that he passed away the day after he got our message. His dad thanked us for the message and I cried.

'Not only does this break our heart but it reminds us of two valuable lesson it's so easy to do little acts of kindness they can go such a long way, not only did this email exchange change our lives but we hope we brought happiness to one of his last moments.

'So today just think about how much better it is to go that little bit extra and do something positive... cherish those around you, never end things on a bad note and really value each minute you have with the ones you love.' (sic)

The Chainsmokers are currently gearing up for their mammoth 'Memories Do Not Open' tour in America which kicks off in April.
