Legendary musician calls Olly Alexander to praise 'It's a Sin'
The Channel 4 drama follows a group of friends during the 1980's AIDS crisis.
Years & Years singer Olly Alexander has reveled that he got a phone call from a legendary musician praising him and the cast of TV drama 'It's a Sin'. Olly stars in the show alongside Keeley Hawes and Scottish actor David Carlyle.
Speaking to Boogie & Arlene on Clyde 1 about Years & Years new single 'Starstruck', he was asked about the last celeb that left him startstruck. He revealed that he recently took a call from Sir Elton John.
Elton called Olly and the entire cast of Channel 4's 'It's a Sin' to praise them and say how much he loved it. The drama follows a group of friends during the HIV/AIDS crisis of the 1980's and broke streaming records for Channel 4.
Olly says "Elton John watched 'It's a Sin', the show I was in. He called eveyone from the cast up to say how much he loved it."
Olly added "It's the most surreal thing. You don't think someone like Elton John has a phone and calls people but he does."
'Starstruck' is the new single from Years & Years - which is now Olly's solo project. He also told Boogie & Arlene that inspiration for the song came from getting away from London in to the countryside and appreciating the night sky.
