Summer is here! Well, the weather might be a bit variable, but it's June, which is definitely one of our summer months. Here at Clyde 1 we're getting into the mood for summer playing all the summer tunes and asking for your Summer Feeling videos.

As the advice is currently stay outside when up to six people meet, a BBQ is an ideal way to meet your friends, whilst still observing social distancing. Here we take a look at some of the more unusual, but totally delicious things to try out on a BBQ, so stay away from the usual burgers and sausages and give these a try.

Unusual but totally delicious things to cook on a BBQ:

Corn on the cob with mayonnaise

Corn on the cob itself is gorgeous cooked on a BBQ topped with a bit of butter, but how about trying mayonnaise? It's pretty unusual, but worth a try if you like mayo.

Fish and steak

Regularly cooked in the kitchen, fish and steak are often overlooked for the BBQ. You can either cook them straight on the grill, or try wrapping the fish in foil along with a slice of lemon.

Spatchcock chicken

A delicious alternative way to cook a whole chicken is by making it into a spatchcock chicken.
To create a spatchcock chicken simply use strong scissors to cut through the backbone of the chicken. Flatten the chicken and keep in place with skewers.
You should be able to cook it on a BBQ in around 20 minutes for each side.

Kebabs

Whether you eat meat or not you can make some delicious kebabs for the BBQ. Try adding mushrooms, onions, courgettes, peppers, and meat if you eat it.
You could even try a dessert skewer with banana, strawberries, watermelon and pineapple.

Halloumi

Grilled halloumi is incredibly simple, but so delicious. Just slice the squeaky cheese and place directly on the grill of your BBQ. Keep a close eye on it though as it could quickly burn.

Avocado

Avocado is a bit of a favourite these days, but have you thought about putting it on the BBQ? Try just cutting it in half, removing the stone and putting it straight on.
It's perfect to use in salads or stick in your burger bun.

Bananas and chocolate

Heat your bananas on the BBQ still in their skins, making sure to turn them over regularly.
Once they're soft inside, carefully slice them open and pop pieces of chocolate in the top so they melt. Delicious!

Pineapple with cinnamon

You can either cut up pineapple chunks, pop them on a skewer and cover them with cinnamon, or put pineapple slices in foil, cover them in cinnamon, and cook on the BBQ.

Watermelon

Watermelon is a favourite for many enjoyed on a summer evening, but ever tried it after a short time on a BBQ?
Sticking the watermelon on the BBQ for a short time will caramelise the fruit, giving it a subtle smoky flavour.
