Body found after three week search for missing Harthill man

Police were called to the River Clyde in Clydebank on Tuesday

The family of missing Lanarkshire man Derek Beattie, who disappeared more than three weeks ago, have been told by police about a body found in the River Clyde at Clydebank.

39-year-old Derek, from Harthill, was last seen on the 27th November in Glasgow city centre.

The last reported sighting was of him leaving Gracie’s Bar around 7.35pm and crossing King George V Bridge heading towards Commerce Street.

A body was found in the river near to Clydebank Leisure Centre around 2.55pm on Tuesday, 21 December.

A statement from Police Scotland says formal identification is yet to take place, however Derek’s family has been made aware.

There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
