Car 'deliberately' set on fire in Shawlands

Emergency services were called at around 10.45pm last night.

Two cars have been left badly damaged after one of them was set on fire in Shawlands last night.

Emergency services were called to Millwood Street at around 10.45pm, to a BMW car on fire.

Locals reported hearing a 'really loud bang' and noticed the fire a matter of seconds later.

A Suzuki sitting next to it was also wrecked in the blaze.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 10:45pm, police received a report of a car, BMW, on fire in Millwood Street. Emergency services attended and the fire was put out.

"Another vehicle, a Suzuki, parked next to the BMW was also damaged. Early indications are the BMW was deliberately set on fire and enquiries are ongoing."
