Court hears man allegedly murdered in Airdrie was a "drug dealer"

A man allegedly murdered outside his Airdrie home was a "drug dealer" a court has heard.

Gary More, 32, was fatally shot yards from his doorstep on 6 September, 2018.

Detective sergeant Douglas Mogg, 51, told the trial of murder accused Neil Anderson, 45, that Mr More had "various business interests."

Anderson's QC Donald Findlay asked: "His business interests, he was a drug dealer?"

DS Mogg replied: "Yes, I believe so."

Anderson is accused of acting with others and inducing Mr More to come out his property.

It is alleged Mr More was repeatedly shot on the head and body

The charge states that Anderson had previous malice and ill will towards Mr More.

Anderson denies the charge at the High Court in Glasgow.

He and David Anderson, 37, are also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards Mr More by attending his home, threatening him and demanding money.

The Andersons also face a separate allegation of being concerned in the supply of drugs between March and September 2018.

The offences are said to be aggravated by a connection to organised crime.

DS Mogg has been examined by Neil Anderson's defence QC Mr Findlay.

Mr Findlay put to DS Mogg that Mr More had a commercial gym in his back garden which the officer replied: "Yes."

Mr Findlay then said: "He was something of a martial arts exponent?"

DS Mogg again stated: "Yes."

Mr Findlay said: "The shots of him, he was a pretty big fella?"

DS Mogg replied: "Yes."

Jurors earlier watched CCTV footage of the alleged attack today/yesterday.

A man - who DS Mogg believed to be Neil Anderson - arrived in a Berlingo van and appeared to speak to Mr More shortly before the shooting.

The court was told CCTV showed Neil Anderson hiring a van from a company called Thrifty.

Mr Findlay put to the detective: "It would be difficult to imagine anything (more) Neil Anderson could have done to draw attention to himself to park his van with Thrifty on it outside Mr More's home.

"This is a street with CCTV cameras and curtain twitching neighbours."

DS Mogg again stated: "Yes."

The trial continues before judge Lord Mulholland.
