Cyclist seriously injured after A82 crash near Balloch

Road policing officers are appealing for information after a serious crash involving a cyclist on the A82.

The incident happened approximately 1.6 miles south of the Stoneymollan Roundabout at Balloch, on the Renton bypass around 11.45am on Thursday, 11 January.

It involved a cyclist and a black Mitsubishi Outlander car.

The 65-year-old male cyclist was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries.

The 75-year-old male driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed southbound until around 6.15pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Archie McGuire of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing, and I would urge anyone who witnessed it or has any other information to come forward.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage, in particular anyone who was travelling southbound between the Stoneymollan and Lomondgate roundabouts around the time of the collision.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1128 of 11 January, 2024.”
