Disabled Man Assaulted In Falkirk Park

Police in Falkirk are appealing for information after a disabled man was assaulted in a public park. The 45-year-old man had been walking his dogs through Callendar Park near Westray Terrace at around 8:10pm on Tuesday when he challenged two youths who he suspected were trying to start a fire. In response, they pair shouted abuse before one if the youths assaulted the man and ran off. A short time later, the victim was assaulted again when a group of eight people approached him and made reference to the earlier altercation.

A member of the group took the man’s walking stick and struck him with it. Anyone who can assist police in identifying those responsible is asked to come forward. Police are particularly keen to trace two men in connection with their enquiries. The first is described as white, in his late teens, around 6ft tall and with a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing with a dark hood pulled over his head, wearing glasses and dark scarf covering lower half of face. The second man, who removed the man’s walking stick, is described as white, in his mid 30’s, and around 5ft 9inches tall with a medium build. He had short grey hair and wearing a dark jumper. A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “This was a despicable crime that caused a great deal of distress to the victim. “Anyone who can assist police with their enquiries is asked to contact the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
