The Scottish Tory leader is withdrawing his letter of no confidence
Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross has defended his decision to withdraw his demand for Boris Johnson to resign over the partygate saga.
Speaking to Clyde 1 during a visit to the fish market in Peterhead he said: "I'm doing exactly what Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader is doing. He said at the weekend now is not the time to replace the prime minister.
"It was only a week ago that SNP Westinster leader Ian Blackford was standing in the Commons saying we need unity. I'm doing that with my action of withdrawing the letter of no confidence because I think everyone agrees that's the right approach just now."
The Prime Minister is expected to attend the Scottish Conservative conference in Aberdeen next week.
The SNP said his decision was an "utterly humiliating U-turn" while the Liberal Democrats said he had "the backbone of a jellyfish".
