65 year old woman dies in East Kilbride fire

A 65-year-old woman's died in a fire at a block of high flats in East Kilbride.

Five appliances were sent to Sadlers Wells Court after a 999 call on Thursday night.

A joint investigation is underway with police but the cause is not thought to be suspicious.

A statement said: "Police were called to a report of a fire at a property on Sadlers Wells Court, East Kilbride, around 10.30pm on Thursday, 23 January, 2020. The fire was extinguished by the SFRS and the body of a 65-year-old woman was recovered from the property.

"A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.

"A joint investigation will be carried out with the SFRS to establish the cause of the fire."
