The family of murdered Paisley woman Patricia Henry are telling Clyde 1 News they are desperate for closure.

The 46 year-old's body has never been found and a man is awaiting trial for her murder.

Patricia, known to friends and family as Patti, vanished in 2017 and an arrest was made in July 2019, following an large scale police investigation which also coverage Ayrshire, where she'd moved to just weeks before her disappearance.

Several attempts have been made to recover Patti's body, including extensive searches of the Gleniffer Braes near her home in Glenburn.

The trial has been delayed because of the Coronavirus pandemic and the family say the lack of justice or a grave to visit is making it difficult for them to find closure and start the grieving process properly.

Her cousin Jacci McCarthy spoke exclusivley to us and said: "We just want her home. Her family needs somewhere they know she's at rest that they can visit. It's torture. It's torture for her mum. It's torture for us all to think she's lying somewhere and we don't know where she is.

"Other trials are going ahead and rightly so, but we're just saying it's time to draw a line. It's time we had our day in court.

"It's just so we can start grieving proberly. To know that the person responsible in behind bars and can't hurt anyone else and that we have somewhere to go to visit, to see Patti.

"Our message is simple - give us a date for a trial. Let Patti's family have justice. We don't know the ins and outs of the legal processes. We're putting out trust and our faith in these people that they're doing the right thing by victims.

"Right now, where we stand today, a second prelimarny hearing has been put back again because they're not in a position to give us a date for a trial. It's not good enough. Even in August or September would be two years after an arrest. It's gone on too long.

"We undestand there's been a pandemic but it's been a year now. We have vaccines and testing. It's time we got justice for Patti."

The Crown Office says it cannot comment on on-going criminal case.
