The owners of a popular restaurant in the west end of Glasgow are assessing the damage after a fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Scottish Fire and Rescue crews were called to The Finnieston on Argyle Street just after 5am and the street was closed to traffic.

It's understood the blaze started at the back of the restaurant and the damage has been contained.

Cumbernauld fire attack

It comes as police in Cumbernauld appeal for information about two cars being deliberately set on fire.

It happened at a car park near to McGregor Road around 11.05pm on Saturday 13th August.

No-one was injured in the incident but both vehicles, a silver Renault Scenic and a grey Ford Focus, have been extensively damaged.

Detective Constable Derek Wilson said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have heard or seen something around 11pm last night. Did you see anyone hanging around or anyone running off?

"Any small detail could prove significant in our investigation so please do pass it on.”
