Large gas leak in Glasgow's West End

Scottish Fire and Rescue are on the scene following damage to a SGN gas main.

Buildings on Kelvinhaugh Street are being evacuated after reports of a gas leak. Emergency services have been called to the scene to assist.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 12.05pm on Wednesday, July 31 to reports of a large gas leak on Kelvinhaugh Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene and firefighters are working to assist partners with the evacuation of nearby buildings as a precaution."

Gas engineers from SGN are on their way to the site following reports of damage to a gas main.

Dan Brown, a spokesperson for SGN said: "We’ll be working to investigate the extent of the damage to our network and ensure the safety of the surrounding area."
