More than 300 Glasgow children with additional support needs will head to Troon next week for an extra special day filled with bouncy castles and ice cream.

Glasgow Taxis is marking 75 years of the iconic trip which has not been able to take place since 2019 because of the pandemic.

Driver Jim Buchanan told Clyde 1: "The kids absolutely love going down to Troon in the decorated taxis.

"The driver will give them a big box of sweets, a packed lunch and they get a goodie bag.

"It's an amazing day."

Cameron is a pupil at Hazelwood Primary and will be making the journey to the seaside next Wednesday.

He said: "I am really happy to be going and looking forward to seeing all the big balloons.

"I am also excited to see all the different taxis which are decorated with colourful designs.

"When I arrive I will get to play in the sand with all my friends."

Parents and carers will head down to Kelvin Way in the West End to wave children from 9 different schools across the city off.

Radio Clyde's George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie are also expected to make an appearance.
