New Glasgow Metro in £30bn Greenprint for Investment
City Council unveils plans to help with 2030 Net-Zero target

Glasgow is planning a new metro system and planting 18 million new trees among a raft of projects to boost the city and achieve its Net Zero goal for 2030.
The ideas are included in a ‘Greenprint for Investment’ which outlines ideas for attracting international investment as the city gears up to welcome 120 world leaders for the Cop26 climate change summit.
Time to do better
Cllr Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council said: “All cities face huge change. Glasgow’s challenges are typical of those of so many of our global peers.
“As cities rebuild to decarbonise, we can be the demonstrator in shaping those solutions.
“The success of COP26 will be measured by how cities can take the practical steps necessary to secure the future of our planet. Our Greenprint provides a major part of our roadmap to doing just that.”
Glasgow has already exceeded its carbon emissions target for 2020 by 11% but despite Hope Street remains the most polluted in the country ahead of Edinburgh's Nicholson Street and St John's Road.
