Glasgow LEZ: Garage owner claims he is inundated with people looking for cleaner cars

Second hand car dealers in Glasgow are telling us they're inundated with people looking to upgrade their vehicles to newer and cleaner models.
From Thursday, the rules of the city's new Low Emission Zone will be enforced meaning the heaviest polluting vehicles will be banned from entering the city centre.

"The idea that diesels are bad is not true"
John Fulton runs the Car Source in Giffnock and told Clyde 1: "We are seeing people coming in because they drive to and from the city centre or they live close to the Low Emission Zone.
"The idea that diesels are bad is not true at all because newer models have low CO2 emissions and are economical for long journeys.
"We regularly have customers ask us what the rules are and it seems like they don't realise there are differences between petrol and diesel engines."
Jamie Rooney runs Gorbals Tyres and has had to spend over £40,000 on a new van for his business and a car.
"There was nothing wrong with the two vehicles I had"
He said: "I think it is ridiculous that I have had to fork out all this money just for the pleasure of sitting in traffic in the city centre.
"There was nothing wrong with the two vehicles I had - it feels very unfair."

Our reporter Callum McQuade sat down with Glasgow's Convenor for Transport, Councillor Angus Millar, to put your questions about the Low Emission Zone to him.
He explained why there are variations between petrol and diesel cars.
He said: "The Low Emission Zone is trying to reduce Nitrogen Dioxide emissions which are essentially the air pollutants harming people's lungs and health.
"It is separate to the Carbon Dioxide emissions contributing to climate change.
"The road tax provisions do not take into account the same provisions the LEZ is intended to tackle."
