A Glasgow woman is opening up about her drive to take part in a body building competition at 68.

Linda Young has been toning up with a personal trainer for over a year and just seven weeks ago he suggested she signed herself up to the challenge.

She told Clyde 1: "I had no inclination to become a body builder, but I did want to fill up my skin because my muscles were depleted.

"When he first made the suggestion, I fell about the floor laughing.

"After some thought over a couple of days I thought that I should absolutely go for it."

The training became far more intense with no meals out, no alcohol and working out 5 days a week.

Linda learned poses for the show in a diamante bikini and high heels as well as booking her first ever fake tan.

She added: "It was a bit nerve wracking at the time, but once you're on the stage with the lights on, you just need to strut your stuff and remember the poses.

"I found it really empowering and the message is to go for whatever it is you want to do especially at my age."
