Fire has ripped through a derelict theatre in Greenock for the second time in a month.

Crews were called to the former Arts Guild building on Campbell Street when the alarm was raised at 9.25pm on Sunday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters extinguished the blaze and the last appliance left the scene at 3.19am on Monday.

Writing on Twitter, Inverclyde MP Ronnie Cowan said: "Art Guilds in Greenock is in flames tonight. Another iconic building left to rot in #inverclyde. Hope nobody is injured and a big thanks to our Fire and Rescue service.''

There were no reports of any casualties.

On 22nd October crews were called put out a blaze caused by a small rubbish fire.

The Campbell Street building has been lying empty since 2012 when local theatre productions transferred to the Beacon Arts Centre.
